This map was created by downloading the global terrestrial ecoregion layer from the GIS download page on the Nature Conservancy website, and then overlaying with an instructor-provided country boundary layer. The inset map was created using the same boundary layer; I queried for Brazil and then created a new layer to highlight the country. As noted on the bottom of the map, this map is displayed in the Geographic Coordinate System WGS 1984. I chose ecoregions for this map because I am interested in landscape changes across large areas. Brazil is famous for its tropical rainforest, but it is a large country and contains areas identified as grassland and desert.
